Wartburg shuts out Luther

Silvestri, Scott extend win streaks to 11 consecutive matches

WAVERLY, Iowa — Top-ranked Wartburg (13-1 overall, 3-0 IIAC) defeated Iowa Conference opponent Luther (9-3, 1-1) in a 36-0 shutout on Thursday night.

Second-ranked Kenny Anderson recorded his eighth pin of the season as he won by fall against Robert Patino.

Fourth-ranked Kodie Silvestri and senior Ben Scott brought their winning streaks to 11 consecutive matches and top-ranked Byron Tate brought his to 10 with Thursday’s victories.

Senior Phil Hawes won his innaugural bout in a Knight singlet with his 9-5 decision.

Anderson and fourth-ranked Tommy Mirocha also reached 20 wins on the season.

With the match win, Wartburg’s Iowa Conference dual win streak moves to 154 consecutive wins.
