GREENVILLE, Pa. — No. 14 Mount Union picked up a 22-16 victory at 29th-ranked Thiel (Pa.) in a non-conference match on Friday night.

The match was almost as close as earlier this season when the teams met back in Alliance, Mount Union scored a 16-15 win on a match tiebreaker in that meeting.
This time it appeared the Purple Raiders were on their way to an eaiser time as they jumped out to a 15-3 lead on a decision from freshman Brad Kress at 125 pounds and then three consecutive major decisions by senior Josh Malave at 141 pounds, senior Kevin Shadrach at 149 pounds and freshman Jon Garrison at 157 pounds.
Thiel got back in the match as the brother duo of Matt and Jacob Lowry scored a major decision and pin at 165 and 174 pounds respectively to bring the score to 15-13.
Mount Union seniors Andy Jenkins and Derick Hesson finished off the win for the Raiders as Jenkins scored a 17-6 major decision win at 184 pounds and Hesson moved to 18-0 on the season with an 8-2 win at 285 pounds.
