Wartburg grabs another IIAC title
Knights take 20th consecutive crown, Tate leads repeat champs
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Top-ranked Wartburg won its 20th consecutive Iowa Conference Championship with 193.5 team points on Friday. The win also marked the 30th title in program history.

With Firiday's win, Wartburg joined the ranks of an elite group of Division III schools that have won 20 consecutive conference championships. Those include:
St. Olaf men's swimming and diving with 20 consecutive titles from 1980-99 and Gustavus Adolphus women's tennis with 20 titles in a row from 1992 to present.
Three individuals -- senior Bradley Banks, Dylan Azinger and Byron Tate -- each repeated as IIAC champions at 174, 184 and 197 pounds, respectively. Wartburg has had multiple champions in 22 consecutive tournaments with 2004 and 2006 having eight titlists each. The program’s all-time individual champion total now stands at 185.
Tate’s win marked his third individual conference title, the 14th time a Wartburg wrestler to accomplish the feat. In addition, the was the second 197-pounder to do it as TJ Miller also did it in 2005-07.
Co-head coaches Jim Miller and Eric Keller were named the conference’s Coaches of the Year. This marked the 10th award for Miller and first for Keller.
