ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Cory Dauphin’s third-period pin highlighted six bonus-point wins that carried No. 3 Central Oklahoma to a 34-13 rout of No. 20 Ouachita Baptist on Friday.
The Bronchos had three falls, a technical fall and two major decisions among their seven wins.
Dauphin had the biggest of those, sticking No. 3 Bobby Williams at the 5:49 mark in their 157-pound showdown. UCO also got falls from 165-pound Chris Watson and heavyweight Cody Dauphin, while 133-pound Casy Rowell had a technical fall and 149-pound Jordan Basks and 197-pound Znick Ferrell had major decisions.
“It wasn’t an ideal situation to go on the road right after a home match, but that’s what we had to do and maybe it will help toughen us up a little,” UCO coach David James said. “We won seven matches with five bonus and that’s always good. We’re glad to get the win and are ready to move on to next week.”
The Bronchos trailed 9-5 after the first three matches, with Rowell’s 16-0 domination at 133 pounds sandwiched between a loss at 125 and fall at 141, but it was all UCO after that.
Basks started a four-match winning streak with a 13-3 major decision at 149, Dauphin cradled up Williams for the third-period pin at 157 and Watson followed with a first-period fall before 174 Kelly Henderson’s 10-5 ended the streak to give the Bronchos a 23-9 lead.
The Tigers got their final win at 184, but UCO ended the dual with Znick’s 10-2 major decision and Dauphin’s second first-period fall in a row.
