FINDLAY, Ohio — No. 2 Notre Dame (Ohio) won seven of 10 bouts to beat No. 7 Findlay 24-9 on Saturday in the first meeting between the two programs since 2010. It marked the Falcons’ third win this season against top-10 teams.
Notre Dame’s top scorer was top-ranked Joey Davis, who earned a 26-10 tech fall versus Alex Betts at 165 pounds.
Notre Dame (7-1) was led by Marty Carlson (133 pounds), Maurice Miller (141), Jeffery Pelton (157), Joey Davis (165), Eric Burgey (174), Brandonn Johnson (197) and Orlando Scales (285).
The Falcons won four bouts by decision, with the other two bouts coming as major decisions from Johnson and Pelton. Johnson defeated Findlay’s Ashton Brown 10-1, and Pelton defeated Jordan Crowell 14-2.
Davis continued his undefeated season with the only tech fall of the dual, beating Betts to give NDC a commanding lead. Orlando Scales finished the victory with a 6-4 decision against Andrew Tumlin.
NDC is now 24-1 in its past 25 dual matches.
