The Lincoln University Women’s Track Team ran away with another victory over the weekend at the 2009 NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships in San Angelo, Texas Saturday, May 23. The win marks the team’s sixth outdoor title. The team began a historic run in 2003 when they first won the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championship. They recaptured the title four more times between 2004 and 2007, for a total of five championships, setting a record for the most consecutive wins.           
           
Nandelle Cameron, Samoy Hackett, Sudian Davis and Janika Martell finished just 15-hundreths of a second shy of the championship record with their win in the 4x100 meter relay. Martell and Hackett were joined by AnnaKay Campbell and Keniesha Jones to claim the win in the 4x400 meter relay. Hackett earned individual wins in the 100 and 200 meter dashes. Campbell claimed the long jump title.
           
In addition to their current win, the team also won the 2009 NCAA Division II Indoor Championship, held in March in Houston, Texas. This year’s win was the third indoor championship for the Lincoln University women. The team last held both the indoor and outdoor titles in 2006.
           
On the men’s side, the Lincoln University Men’s Track Team finished in fourth place. Kawayne Fisher earned individual honors for his first place finish in the 100 meter dash. Fisher was also part of Lincoln’s first place 4x100 relay team, which also included Gavin Terrelonge, Dwain Bryden, Kimour Bruce.
