Crunch Time For UTEP, Nevada

Courtesy of Nevada Athletics RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada rifle team returns to action Saturday in a home and away series against the University of Texas at El Paso. The match will also be the Wolf Pack’s final home match of the season. Nevada is expected to shoot at 11 a.m. and again at 2 p.m. Saturday’s match will also be the final home match for seniors Andrew Hickey and Sarah Smith. This will be the fourth of five meetings against UTEP. The fifth meeting will be at El Paso, Texas, on Feb. 14. Both teams will be qualifying for the NCAA Championships. “This weekend’s match is an opportunity to tune up for the NCAA Qualifier at UTEP,” Nevada coach Fred Harvey said. The Wolf Pack’s last meeting against the Miners was in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Nov. 15, 2008, in a three-team match which included Air Force. Air Force took the overall win with an aggregate of 4605. Nevada and UTEP shot an aggregate of 4597 and 4582, respectively. |
