CHERRY HILL, N.J.—On the first day of competition at the 2009 NCAA Women’s Rowing Championships, three-time defending team champions Williams advanced both of its boats to the Grand Final in the Division III competition.  The three races that make up the finals will go off on Saturday morning, followed by the awards ceremony at the Cooper River Park championship site.  

Joining the two entries from Williams in the Grand Final are Bates I, Trinity (Conn.) I, Ithaca I and Puget Sound I.  Williams I, Bates I and Trinity I all won their heats in the morning, while Williams II, Ithaca I and Puget Sound I qualified for the grand final in the afternoon qualifier.  The national championship race begins at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday

The petite final will include Bates II, Ithaca II, Willamette, St. Lawrence I, Smith I and Trinity II and will start at 11:15 a.m.  In the third level final, beginning at 11 a.m., the field will include Puget Sound II, Washington (Md.), Smith II and St. Lawrence II.
