Dartmouth Takes Third Carnival In A Row

Courtesy of Dartmouth Athletics STOWE, Vt. - Dartmouth skiing remains undefeated in the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association's (EISA) carnival series as the Big Green achieved its third straight victory at races hosted by the University of Vermont this weekend. By the end of Sunday's classical Nordic competition, Dartmouth had earned a total of 919 points, over 120 points ahead of UVM in second place with 798.5 points. The University of New Hampshire placed third in the team standings with 735.5 points. Juergen Uhl of UVM won the men's 15-kilometer classical race with a time of 45:13.6 and a solid 45-second lead over the rest of the field. Dartmouth senior Ben True finished second, and Dimitri Luthi of Williams College was the third finisher, completing the podium. The remainder of the Dartmouth skiers placed within the top-20, with four of six athletes comprising the top-10. Senior Ben Koons took sixth place, with junior Patrick O'Brien, senior Glenn Randall, and sophomore Nils Koons placing 9th, 10th, and 11th, respectively. Dakota Blackhorse-von Jess, a senior at Dartmouth, finished in 16th place. Caitlin Patterson of UVM, winner of Saturday's freestyle competition, won the women's 10-kilometer classical event on Sunday as well with a time of 36:53.9. Lucy Garrec of Colby College took second place, and Dartmouth sophomore Ida Sargent finished third. Her teammate Rosie Brennan took fourth place, followed by Dartmouth freshman Erika Flowers in 13th place, and junior Katie Bono in 14th. Senior Chelsea Little finished in 39th place, concluding another set of strong results from the women's Nordic team. Dartmouth College will host the next EISA carnival on February 13-14 at Oak Hill in Hanover, NH and the Dartmouth Ski Way in Lyme, NH. The Big Green looks to continue dominating the carnival circuit with the added home course advantage. |
