INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The NCAA Skiing Championships are set to return to Vermont as the NCAA Men's and Women's Skiing Committee selected the University of Vermont to host the 2011 NCAA Championships.

"The University of Vermont is excited and honored to bring the NCAA Skiing Championships back to the state," said UVM's Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics Dr. Robert Corran. "This is another great opportunity for the University and the state of Vermont to demonstrate the commitment to the sport of skiing. We look forward to hosting the championships and providing a first-class experience for all the other universities and student-athletes who will be participating."

The championships will be held March 9-12, 2011 at the Stowe Mountain Resort and the Trapp Family Lodge. The alpine events will take place at Stowe, while the Nordic races will be held at Trapp Family Lodge.

"We are excited and thankful to put together another great championship," said UVM's Director of Skiing Bill Reichelt. "It was a pleasure to work with everybody in Stowe in 2005 and we are looking forward to working with both the Stowe Mountain Resort and Trapp Family Lodge administrators to put together an even better championship in 2011."

The 2011 Championships will be the sixth skiing championship that UVM has hosted in Stowe. UVM also hosted the NCAA Ski Championships in 1980, 1986, 1990, 1997 and most recently in 2005. Each time Vermont has hosted the NCAA's the Catamounts have either won the national title or placed second overall.
