Sept. 28, 2009
Courtesy of the USTFCCCA With the Division I cross country season well underway several teams still have yet to run their full squads. Perennial powers such as Colorado, Oregon, and Stanford have run early season meets and have done well. Oregon and Colorado have yet to run their entire teams. Both squads have competed in only one meet this season (Oregon – Pre’s Trail, and Colorado – Colorado Time Trial). Both the Ducks and Buffaloes will return to action next weekend when Colorado hosts the Rocky Mountain Shootout on October 3rd, while Oregon will host the Bill Dellinger Invite on October 2nd. The Duck men and Colorado men are both ranked No. 1 in their respective region rankings released today by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association – http://www.ustfccca.org/rankings/division-i-rankings. Stanford, ranked No. 2 in the men’s West Region and No. 3 in the women’s West Region, ran an impressive meet as the Cardinal hosted the Stanford Invitational over the weekend. Both Stanford squads picked up victories with the men scoring a perfect meet. Iowa State, ranked No. 3 in both the men’s and women’s Midwest Region, was victorious as the Cyclones competed in the Roy Griak Invitational at Minnesota over the weekend. Both Iowa State programs came away with victories over several regionally ranked Division I programs.
