Clemson, Purnell Agree To 2-Year Extension
June 16, 2009
CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) - Clemson coach Oliver Purnell has agreed to a two-year contract extension that will keep him with the Tigers through 2016. Clemson athletic spokesman Tim Bourret said Tuesday the school and Purnell have not signed the deal, but have a framework in place. Bourret says the extension will boost Purnell's salary to about $1.35 million. A year ago, Purnell earned a two-year extension through 2014 that guaranteed him $1 million a year. Purnell led Clemson to its second straight NCAA tournament appearance this season, a feat it had not accomplished since making three straight appearances from 1996-98 under Rick Barnes. |
