FARMINGDALE, N.Y. -- Husky senior-to-be Nick Taylor finished the 2009 U.S. Open in a four-way tie for 36th place after shooting an 8-over, 288 during the rain-soaked tournament at Bethpage Black. Taylor, from Abbottsford, B.C., shot a final round 75 to end the Open as the top finishing amatuer.

Taylor finished 10 holes of the fourth round on Sunday before darkness forced the Husky to wrap up his final eight holes, starting on the No. 2 tee, on Monday. Taylor started Monday at 6-over for the tournament, but dropped back from the leaderboard after hitting three bogeys and just one birdie.

Taylor began with a par on No. 2 and wrapped bogeys around a birdie on No. 4. He scored pars on No. 6 and 7 before recording a bogey on No. 8 that put him at 8-over for the tourney. He wrapped things up with a par on No. 9 to put him at 5-over for the round.

Among amatuers, Taylor was one-stroke better than Virginia Tech's Drew Weaver and five-strokes better than 2009 NCAA runner up and Gig Harbor, Wash., native Kyle Stanley. Of the 18 amatuers in the field, the trio were the only ones to make the cut after two rounds.

Taylor equaled the best round ever by an amatuer after shooting a 5-under 65 in the second round.

Taylor will have a busy summer playing in multiple events, including the RBC Canadian Open and the U.S. Amatuer.
