After all the wins, after all the consecutive undefeated regular seasons, Stanford finally got the one victory that had eluded it for three years: a win in the national championship game.

Stanford senior Teresa Noyola had done this before, and her heads-up play -- the game-winning goal -- erased the agony of back-to-back 1-0 losses in the College Cup title game.

Stanford, making its third consecutive appearance in the national final, took home the title for the first time as the Cardinal posted their 18th shutout with a 1-0 win against Duke.
