Tufts scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to defeat Cortland State 6-5 and capture the program's first national championship. Michelle Cooprider collected two RBIs in the win.

For the first time in program history, Tufts took home the NCAA Division III national championship trophy, winning its back-and-forth title game against Cortland State 6-5.

Neither Cortland nor Tufts have won a national championship before. Several members of the 2008 UW-Eau Claire team recall the title-taking thrill from their championship run.

Nobody is playing better as a team than Tufts as the Jumbos reached their first national title game with a 6-0 win against Cortland State at Gelein Park on Sunday night.
