Tarleton State Leads After Day One

FINDLAY, Ohio – Tarleton State University shot a 301 in the opening round and holds a six-shot advantage over the University of Indianapolis (307) as the first round of competition at the 2009 NCAA Division II Women’s Golf National Championships came to a close on Wednesday, May 13 at the Findlay Country Club in Findlay, Ohio.

Defending champion Rollins College, who has won five out of the past six national titles, trails Indianapolis by one stroke after firing a 309 with Grand Valley State University lurking in fourth place after carding a 310.

Individually, Pfeiffer University senior Charlene Reid and Tarleton State sophomore Carla Cooper share the lead after turning in a two-under par score of 70 in the opening round.

Florida Tech University senior Daniela Iacobelli, the 2007 National Champion, is currently in a three-way tie for third after posting a 74. She is tied with Grand Valley State junior Caitlin Bennett and Indianapolis junior Lyndsay McBride.
