In order to be considered for selection to the national championships, teams and individuals must have played a minimum of 15 18-hole rounds including a minimum of four rounds in the spring.

The individuals and teams were selected to the championships based upon a complete review of all of the following criteria (within region):

1. Head-to-head competition within regions;
2. Results versus common opponents;
3. Stroke differential;
4. Strength of schedule (number of teams in tournament, rounds of competition and overall strength of tournament fields);
5. Scoring average (adjusted scoring average and team and individual score versus par);
6. Spring results compared to fall results; and
7. Eligibility and availability of student-athletes.

The top six in each region that met the criteria along with the top three individuals not with a team were selected for regional competition.

In last year's championship, Rollins College scored a record setting total of 1185 (+17) to win their third straight NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championship. Grand Valley's Melissa Sneller shot an even par tournament total of 292 to break another Division II record and win the individual title.
