Lynchburg Defeats Concordia-Moorehead 4-0

Courtesy of Lynchburg Athletics SAN ANTONIO, TX - The Lynchburg College women's soccer team advanced to its third NCAA Division III Tournament Elite Eight in program history Saturday with a 4-0 win over Concordia-Moorehead College (MN) in a game hosted by Trinity University. Senior midfielder Ashley Hoath (Alexandria, VA/Mount Vernon) scored the contest's first goal at 23:27 of the first half, assisted by junior midfielder Betsy Kwiatkowski (Mount Jackson, VA/Stonewall Jackson). Katie Santos (pictured left - Cheltenham, MD/Bishop Ireton) gave LC a 2-0 edge 37 minutes into play from Brittany Klippstein (Springfield, VA/West Springfield), and Santos scored again a minute and a half before intermission. Kwiatkowski added an insurance goal at 65:55 of the second half. Ali Nelson made seven saves for Concordia, while sophomore Anna Wright (Ashland, VA/Patrick Henry) made three stops. Lynchburg outshot the Cobblers 18-9 and held a 8-1 edge in corner kicks. Lynchburg will play host Trinity (a 1-0 winner over Hardin-Simmons) Sunday at 6 p.m. for the right to play in the Final Four, also in San Antonio. |
