Chicago Sweeps Carnegie Mellon

Courtesy of Oglethorpe Athletics LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Chicago jumped on Carnegie Mellon, sweeping the doubles matches en route to a 5-0 quarterfinal win. The doubles pairings of Kendra Higgins and Chrissy Hu topped Laura Chen and Ashley Herrick, 8-4 at the #1 slot and Jennifer Kung and Vindya Dayananda knocked off Courtney Chin and Kelly Hart, 8-2. At the #3 doubles slot, Chicago’s Carmen Vacaguzman and Tiffany Nguyen teamed up to best Amanda Wu and Jennifer Chui, 9-7. Chicago got wins over Carnegie Mellon at the numbers two and four singles slots to clinch the quarterfinal win. At #2, Jennifer Kung beat Amanda Wu, 6-1,6-4 and Chrissy Hu clinched the match at #4 with a 3-6, 6-0, 6-2 victory over Carnegie Mellon’s Jennifer Chui. The win by Chicago sets up a semifinal match with Amherst College tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. |
