Amherst College Sweeps Gustavus Adolphus, 6-0

Courtesy of Oglethorpe Athletics LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Like Chicago, Amherst got off to a dominating start in their match with the Golden Gusties by sweeping the doubles action. Brittany Berckes and Natasha Brown combined to top Sierra Krebsbach and Sam Frank from the #1 slot, 8-2, while Mim Bell and Anuja Ankola took care of Erica Dobson and Ali Oneal at the #2 position, 9-7. The Lord Jeffs completed the doubles sweep with a win at #3 from the combo of Jill Wexler and Laura Danzig over Marianne Barau and Megan Gaard, 8-5. Amherst kept the momentum rolling in the singles matches, claiming the numbers two, three and five slots to earn the win. Matches three and four ended simultaneously, hence the final score of 6-0. Winning at #2 was Carlissa King who bested Megan Gaard, 6-4, 6-0 while Jill Wexler won over Ali Oneal at #3, 6-1, 6-4. Ending at the same time was the #5 singles match where Laken King topped Marianne Barau, 6-2, 6-2 for the double-clincher. With the quarterfinal win, the Lord Jeffs advance to face Chicago University at 2:00 p.m. tomorrow. |
