Arizona advances to championship series

    Trey Porter came off the bench in the sixth and delivered the game-winning hit with a two-run single in the eighth as Mississippi State edged Indiana by one run in Game 6 of the College World Series.

  • CWS: Oregon State eliminates Louisville

    Oregon State scores 10 runs in two innings as the Beavers eliminate Louisville with an 11-4 victory. The Cardinals committed four total errors in the loss, becoming the first team ousted from the CWS.

    A pitchers duel took place Sunday in Omaha during the opening round of the CWS. UCLA pitchers Adam Plutko and David Berg held LSU to only one run, while teammates backed it up with stifling defense in the Bruins' 2-1 win.

    Carlos Rodon pitched like an ace on Sunday, playing through all nine innings while allowing only one run on five hits with eight strikeouts as NC State crushed their rival UNC 8-1 in Game 3 of the College World Series.

    Indiana's Joey DeNato pitched a complete-game shutout, with eight strikeouts and recieved enough run support to defeat Louisville 2-0 for the Hoosiers' first win in their first trip to the CWS.

    Mississsippi State's Wes Rae hit a two-run double in the eighth and Jonathan Holder was able to close out the ninth as the Bulldogs grabbed a 5-4 victory against Oregon State.
