Recapping Week 12 of HBCU football in the FCS

Week 12 of HBCU football in the FCS was exciting finish to the regular season for most teams. Here's what you may have missed.

No. 25 Mississippi State 55, Tennessee State 10

Tennessee State ended its season with an FBS opponent. The Tigers finish the season 5-6 overall, 3-3 in conference and 0-2 against FCS HBCU opponents.

No. 16 Texas A&M 52, Prairie View A&M 3

Prairie View A&M was outmatched against FBS opponent Texas A&M, but the Panthers won the SWAC West thanks to Alcorn State's loss.

Morgan State 28, Georgetown 21

Morgan State ends a difficult season with a win over Georgetown. The Bears ended the season winning two of their final three games.

Howard 56, Virginia-Lynchburg 6 (Game called in 2nd quarter)

A dominating showing for Howard was marred by a fight at the end of the second quarter, causing officials to call the game at half. It's a sad ending to the season for the Bison, with young players unable to get a chance on the field in what was a blowout game.

North Alabama 35, Hampton 27

Hampton lost to North Alabama 35-27, never leading against its Big South foe.

Gardner-Webb 35, North Carolina A&T 27

North Carolina A&T lost to Gardner-Webb, ending a disappointing season that began with playoff aspirations.

South Carolina State 31, Norfolk State 21

South Carolina State defeated Norfolk State to go undefeated in MEAC play. The Bulldogs will represent the conference in the Celebration Bowl on Dec. 18. Norfolk State ends a promising season with three straight losses.

North Carolina Central 34, Delaware State 28 (OT)

North Carolina Central defeated Delaware State in overtime to finish second in the MEAC. The loss is Delaware State's second overtime loss this season.

Jackson State 24, Alcorn State 10

Jackson State finishes undefeated against FCS and SWAC opponents with its 24-10 win over Alcorn State. Alcorn State's loss knocked them out of the SWAC West title race.

Alabama A&M 52, Arkansas-Pine Bluff 24

Alabama A&M quarterback Aqeel Glass surpassed 12,000 career passing yards in a 52-24 Bulldog win. On the day, Glass threw for 450 yards and six touchdowns to hand Arkansas-Pine Bluff its ninth loss.

Alabama State 24, Texas Southern 21

Alabama State picked up its first win since firing its head coach, ending the season on a high note. It was a quiet day for Texas Southern quarterback Andrew Body.

Florida A&M 46, Bethune-Cookman 21 (Florida Blue Florida Classic at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, FL)

Florida A&M's defense dominated once again, scoring two touchdowns in a blowout Florida Classic victory. The Rattlers ended an eight-game losing streak to Bethune-Cookman with the win.

    • A late touchdown pass from Jackson State QB Shedeur Sanders to WR Malachi Wideman gave the Tigers a go-ahead touchdown to defeat Southern. Next up for Jackson State is Alcorn State in the first SWAC Football Classic.
  2. Florida A&M | SWAC | 8-2 | LW: 3
    • Week 11 marked the fifth game that Florida A&M’s defense held an opponent to a touchdown or less this season. A win in the Florida Classic this weekend could send the Rattlers to the FCS Playoffs.
  3. Prairie View A&M | SWAC | 7-2 | LW: 2
    • Prairie View A&M suffered its first conference loss this season, but the Panthers still can win the SWAC West.
  4. Alcorn State | SWAC | 6-4 | LW: 7
    • Alcorn State is not out of the conference championship race, yet after defeating Prairie View A&M 31-29. If the Braves win and the Panthers lose, Alcorn State will play for the SWAC Championship.
  5. Alabama A&M | SWAC | 6-3 | LW: 4
    • Alabama A&M QB Aqeel Glass set a new school record (again) for passing yards in Week 11’s win. The quarterback is ending the season on a hot streak.
  6. South Carolina State | MEAC | 5-5 | LW: 6
    • South Carolina State lost to former MEAC rival North Carolina A&T, but the Bulldogs won the MEAC thanks to Norfolk State’s loss. The Spartans are South Carolina State’s next opponent.
  7. North Carolina Central | MEAC | 5-5 | LW: 8
    • North Carolina Central controlled much of the game against Howard, winning by 18 points.
  8. Norfolk State | MEAC | 6-4 | LW: 5

  11. Tennessee State | Ohio Valley | 5-5 | LW: 9

  12. Hampton | Big South | 5-5 | LW: 11
    • Hampton sits third in the Big South after a 28-21 win over Campbell.

  16. Texas Southern | SWAC | 3-7 | LW: 15
    • Texas Southern might have lost to Alabama A&M in Week 11, but Tigers QB Andrew Body stood toe-to-toe with one of the conference’s best.
  17. Bethune-Cookman | SWAC | 2-8 | LW: 19
    • The Wildcats picked up back-to-back wins after losing eight consecutive games to open the season.
  18. Howard | MEAC | 2-8 | LW: 17

  19. Alabama State | SWAC | 3-6 | LW: 16
    • Another loss for the Hornets as the head coach search continues.
  20. Arkansas-Pine Bluff | SWAC | 2-8 | LW: 21
