The 2023 outdoor track and field championships began today June 7 with Day 1 of men's action. Six individual champions were crowned, the decathlon is halfway through and more. Here's what you may have missed.

- Hammer — Winner: Kenneth Ikeji, Harvard

- Pole Vault — Winner: Kyle Rademeyer, South Alabama
- Shot put — Winner: Jordan Geist, Arizona
- 10,000 meters — Winner: Ky Robinson, Stanford
Decathlon standings after five events

Team standings
Arkansas leads the team standings with 21 points, powered by McLeod's win in the long jump. Fellow Razorback Wayne Pinnock finished second in the event, for a grand total of 18 points from one event. Arkansas scored two points from Jordan West's seventh-place finish in the shot put and one point from Patrick Kiprop's eighth-place finish in the 10,000 meters.

🏆 Stanford's Ky Robinson wins men's 10,000 meters

🏆 South Alabama's Kyle Rademeyer wins the men's pole vault
South Alabama's Kyle Rademeyer won the men's pole vault after clearing 5.70 meters on his first attempt. Rademeyer and Akron's Hunter Garretson were the only two to clear the winning mark, but Garretson did so on his second attempt. Princeton's Sondre Guttormse, the defending champion, passed at 5.70 meters, but he failed to clear the next mark at 5.80 meters.

LSU's Tzuriel Pedrigo won the men's javelin with a throw of 79.79 meters to set a school record and win his second NCAA title in three years.

🏆 Harvard's Kenneth Ikeji wins the men's hammer
Harvard's Kenneth Ikeji is the first outdoor track and field champion of 2023, winning the men's hammer with a throw of 77.92 meters to set a facility record and take the collegiate lead for the season. Ikeji's win came on his final throw, showing off his clutchness. It's a personal-best mark and the sixth-best mark all-time.

Day 1: How to watch, schedule of events, results
The 2023 outdoor track and field championships begin today June 7 with Day 1 of men's action. Six individual champions will be crowned today in the hammer, javelin, pole vault, long jump, shot put and 10,000 meters. The decathlon will also see five of its 10 events compete today. Elsewhere, the other men will be competing for a berth in Friday's championship finals.
