EMPORIA, Kan. - Emporia State head coach Bob Fornelli has announced the signing of three players to attend ESU and play baseball for the Hornets in the 2010 season.

Cole Armitage is a 6-2 right handed pitcher from Barton County CC and a native of Emporia, Kan. While at Emporia HS he was twice named All-Centennial League first team. While at Barton County Community College he had a 5-2 record with two saves in his freshman season in 30.1 inning pitched with 32 strikeouts.

Spencer Blades is a 6-2 left handed pitcher from Barton County CC and a native of Liberty, Mo. While at Barton County as a freshman he went 3-4 with six starts and struck out 33 on the season. He played summer league baseball for the Derby Twins of the Jayhawk Baseball League and National Baseball Congress. He is a 2006 graduate of Liberty HS.

"Both these pitchers could see time as weekend starters for us next season," said Fornelli. "We were really fortunate to sign them so early."

Matthew Dahms is a 6-1 catcher from Coffeyville CC and a native of Kansas City, Mo. While at Oak Park HS he was named first team All-State during his junior season and named All-Conference his sophomore through junior seasons. Played catcher for Coffeyville CC of the Jayhawk Conference during his freshman season.

"We lost two senior catchers last season and Matt will have a chance to compete for playing time," said Fornelli.
