The Niners were selected by the league's coaches and by "Baseball America" to win their third straight crown.

The Niners begin the 2009 season on the road in a three-game series at Clemson, beginning Friday, February 20. Charlotte's home opener is Tuesday, February 24, beginning a three-game home series with Oakland of Michigan at 4 p.m. The Niners will play home games on six straight afternoons that week and host 17 of 19 games at Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium following the Clemson series.
