HOUSTON — Justin Jones struck out 10 in six-plus innings of relief as California rebounded from a four-run deficit and eliminated Alcorn State 10-6 in the Houston Regional on Saturday.

Jones (8-6) came in for starter Kevin Miller, who was chased after giving up four runs in 1.2 innings, and allowed two unearned runs on two hits in 6.1 innings for Cal (32-21).

After falling behind 4-0 in the second, the Bears answered by sending 10 batters to the plate in the third, scoring six runs to chase Braves starter Troy Williams (7-6). Chadd Krist and Chad Bunting each had two-run doubles, and Darrel Matthews added an RBI double to make it 6-4.

Angel Rosa was 2-for-5 with two RBIs for Alcorn State (27-31), which was making its first appearance in the NCAA tournament.
