BOLIVAR, Mo. -- Eighth-ranked Emporia State pounded out 30 hits as it swept a doubleheader at Southwest Baptist. ESU held the Bearcats to only 12 hits in 9-2 and 10-4 victories.

In Game One, ESU got three runs in the first inning, sparked by Dorain Williams' home run, and did not look back. The Hornets' big inning came in the fifth as they scored four runs on four hits. Williams went 2-for-4, driving in two and scoring one.

Joe Vaskas went 2-for-3 and added three RBI. Eric Dawson continued his hot hitting as he went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI. Joe Hosey added a two-run double. Joe Kornbrust stole a base and added an RBI in the ESU effort.

Brandon Faulkner threw a complete-game five-hitter, allowing two runs while striking out two to pick up his second win.

In Game Two, the Hornets grabbed four runs in the first two innings and rolled to the victory. ESU added four in the fourth inning as ESU had 16 hits, only three of which went for extra bases. The Hornets also took advantage of four SBU errors.

Williams completed a strong day going 4-for-4 and scoring three runs with a stolen base. Jordan Slade went 3-for-5, including two doubles, and scored two runs. Dawson went 2-for-5 and drove in two runs. Kornbrust was 2-for-5 with three RBI. Ashton McCoy was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a run driven in. Tyler Spencer, Zack Carlson and Hosey also added RBIs for ESU.

Derek Brooks moved to 2-0, pitching seven innings and allowing only four hits and one earned run while striking out three. Shawn Talkington pitched an inning of hitless relief and also had two strikeouts.
