Arkansas crushes Bryant 12-3 to stay alive in Manhattan regional
MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Brett McAfee had two doubles and drove in three runs as Arkansas defeated Bryant 12-3 on Sunday in an NCAA regional game.
McAfee led a Razorbacks (39-21) offense that put together its best showing of the tournament, piling up 13 hits against a Bryant pitching staff that had been mostly stingy during the weekend. Jacob Mahan had three RBIs, and Tyler Spoon drove in two.
The Razorbacks jumped on Bryant (45-18-1) with three runs in the first, four in the third and another five in the eighth inning.
The Bulldogs, who were eliminated, got a solo homer from Kevin Brown in the first inning and an RBI single from Dan Muscatello in the sixth.
Arkansas' Randall Fant (6-1) earned the win, allowing two runs and six hits in 5.2 innings. Kevin McAvoy (7-3) took the loss.
