AIKEN, S.C. -- Patrick Grady and Erik Lunde each had five RBI and Tyler Wilson added four to lead No. 2 Lander to an 18-4 Peach Belt Conference victory against South Carolina-Aiken on Sunday. Lander claimed the best of three series with two wins.
The Bearcats improved to 31-6 overall and 18-6 in the PBC. The Pacers fell to 26-10, 13-8.
Matt Thorpe (1-0) earned the victory on the mound for Lander, walking one and allowing three hits in 2.1 innings of shutout work.
The Pacers Black (4-1) took the loss with one strikeout, one walk and four earned runs on five hits in one inning.
Lander took a 3-0 lead in the second inning after Wilson's RBI single scored Weston Lawing, and Grady drove in Chris Hyatt and Graham Ramos.
The Pacers tied the game at 3-all in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by Sean Miller, while Ben Donath and Connor Oliveri scored on a bases-loaded walks.
The Bearcats regained the lead at 7-3 in the third when Thomas Berry scored on a bases-loaded walk, Ramos went home on Wilson's sacrifice fly and Grady and Connor Lewis had RBI singles that plated Colby Painter and Hyatt
Lander extended the margin to 10-3 in the fourth on a two-RBI single by Wilson and an RBI single by Grady. Lunde drove Thomas Bess and Hyatt in with a double in the sixth, and Lunde pushed Lawing home in the seventh to make it 13-3.
After USCA cut it to 13-4 in the eighth on Miller's fielder's choice, Lander finalized the scoring with five runs in the ninth. Ramos and Painter scored on bases-loaded walks, then Grady, Berry and Lawing added RBI singles that plated Hyatt, Bess and Lunde.
For Lander, Grady and Lawing had four hits each, Lunde and Ramos three and Berry and Wilson two.
Matt Bosse had two hits for the Pacers.
