FULLERTON, Calif. -- Cal State Fullerton officials have concluded the school's investigation concerning improper, unprofessional communication with student-athletes by head baseball coach Rick Vanderhook.
Upon consideration of the investigation’s findings, the university has taken appropriate corrective action.
"The university took the allegations against Coach Vanderhook seriously, and conducted a thorough review,” said James Donovan, director of intercollegiate athletics. "He has received appropriate counsel regarding his conduct, and has been asked to again apologize to his team.”
Coach Vanderhook was on paid administrative leave since April 17, and is now returning. He will resume coaching with the UC Irvine series starting on May 16.
“Players and coaches alike are accountable for their actions on and off the field,” Vanderhook said. "I regret my behavior in this instance, and its impact on the program and on the university. I look forward to returning to my work with the team, and remain committed to Titan Baseball."
