#RoadToOmaha down to 16 teams

Sixteen teams remain in the hunt for a coveted berth in the College World Series.

Super Regional play begins Friday with best-of-three series at four sites -- Stillwater, Oklahoma; Austin, Texas; Louisville, Kentucky; and Nashville, Tennessee. The other four sites -- Lubbock, Texas; Fort Worth, Texas; Lafayette, Louisiana; and Charlottesville, Virginia -- play host beginning Saturday.

The eight Super Regional winners advance to the CWS in Omaha, Nebraska, beginning June 14. The CWS finals are June 23-25.

The 16 teams that survived the four-team regional gauntlet now have Omaha in their sights. ... But first must make it through this weekend. Here are how the remaining championship contenders fared:

20-second action rule approved in college baseball

The NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel approved a 20-second action rule in baseball that will be enforced before all pitches in the 2019-20 academic year. A base umpire will keep the clock on the field if no visible clocks are available.
