MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Memphis used a big first inning to cruise to a 14-6 win against No. 20 Houston on Friday and even the series at one game apiece. The series-deciding rubber match is scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. ET at FedEx Park.
The Tigers came out firing on all cylinders and scored eight runs on eight hits and two Houston errors in the bottom of the first inning. Memphis totaled 18 hits in the game and scored runs in four different innings. The eight runs and eight hits in one inning were both season highs for the Tigers.
Tucker Tubbs went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Zach Schritenthal Chris Carrier, Brandon Montgomery and Jake Overbey each added two RBIs apiece. Montgomery finished 4-for-5, while Kane Barrow racked up three hits.
Dylan Toscano picked up the win after starting and tossing five innings. He allowed three runs on five hits and struck out three batters.
