College World Series -- What to Watch: June 17

Game 9:  Florida Gators vs. Miami (Fla.) Hurricanes

MIAMI   FLORIDA
Did You Know: Jacob Heyward's home run in Game 6 was the first for a Hurricane in the CWS since current Los Angeles Dodgers Yasmani Grandal connected on a solo shot in Miami’s last trip to Omaha in 2008.   Did You Know: Florida saw its season-high 10-game winning streak come to an end with a 1-0 setback to Virginia on Monday night.
On the Bump: Miami junior right-hander Enrique Sosa (7-4, 4.07) takes the mound for the Canes.   On the Bump: Freshman right-hander Alex Faedo (5-1, 3.36) will draw the start for the Gators.
In the Box:  Jacob Heyward added a two-run home run in a 3-for-3, three-RBI performance against Arkansas, clinching Miami's 20th 50-win season in history and first such year since 2008.

 

 

  In the Box: Jerrod Bravo singled to right field in the ninth inning to reach base safely for the 45th consecutive game, extending his school record
Pepper:  Wednesday's meeting between the Hurricanes and Gators will be the 242 game between the two programs.
• Miami’s Joe Zagacki moved into a tie with longtime UM radio voice Sonny Hirsch for fifth place on most CWS games by a team broadcaster. Both men called 37 games in Omaha.
• In the opening round on Saturday night, UF notched a 15-3 win against the Hurricanes, its 20th victory over Miami in the last 25 meetings.
• Miami holds a 127-114-1 (.527) advantage in the all-time series and the Gators lead the Hurricanes by a 71-47-1 (.601) margin in Gainesville.
