Baker Mayfield has a heck of an arm and some athleticism to boot, so the Oklahoma QB excelling at other sports wouldn’t come as a shock.

So could the signal caller, say, join the Sooners’ baseball team? Unlikely. But would it be impossible? Not necessarily.

At first glance, the Oklahoma baseball tweet below might make you think Mayfield is adding metal spikes to his collection of rubber cleats. But as it turns out, they were just having some fun. Mayfield will throw out the first pitch in Oklahoma’s season opener against Northeastern on Friday.

Oklahoma football and basketball have dominated in 2015-16, so Sooners fans are hoping the baseball team can follow suit.
