After a couple of close championship games in Omaha, Nebraska, the Florida Gators are first-time College World Series champions.
Behind Brady Singer's incredible seven-inning, 12-strikeout performance, Florida beat LSU 4-3 to stake a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three finals. Tyler Dyson picked up where Singer left off the following night, throwing six innings of one-run ball before handing it off to the bullpen.
Things got dicey in both the seventh and eighth innings with Florida hanging on to a 2-1 lead. LSU got runners on the corners with nobody out both times, but Michael Byrne got out of it in the seventh and Jackson Kowar came into a tough situation in the eighth and did the same.
Those two wins gave the Gators a sweep of the finals and a championship for the first time in program history.
