RIE, Pa. - Kyle Goldcamp's (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) lay-in with six seconds remaining lifted the Gannon men's basketball team to a thrilling 67-65 victory over Alderson-Broaddus in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional semifinals Sunday night before a packed house at the Hammermill Center.

In the process, Gannon recorded its 29th victory and set a new school record for wins in a season. The Golden Knights also won their 18th consecutive home playoff game.

No. 17 Alderson-Broaddus hung with No. 5 Gannon for the entire night and tied the game at 65 on Montel Lee's put-back with 29 seconds remaining in regulation. Playing for the last shot, Cory Knight (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) found Goldcamp on the right side of the paint. The senior forward then turned and banked a shot high off the glass into the net through traffic.

Alderson-Broaddus had one last chance to win the game. Terrell Eargle had a great look from the right wing, but his three-point attempt to win the game hit off the front rim as the Gannon bench erupted onto the floor.

Gannon initially looked like it would blow Alderson-Broaddus completely out of the gym, bolting out to a 13-2 lead 4:13 into the contest. A Pierre Howard (Chicago, Ill./Bloom) lay-up, a Tyler Stoczynski (Erie, Pa./McDowell) three-pointer, and a Goldcamp jumper capped the run.

The lead stood at 22-12 when Alderson-Broaddus used a 10-2 run to cut the deficit to 24-22 on Mark Summerfield's jumper with 6:47 showing on the clock. The Battlers led 28-26 after Zach Green's three-pointer, before Gannon ended the half on a 14-4 run. Knight's driving lay-up with four seconds left sent the crowd into a frenzy and the Golden Knights into the locker room with a 40-32 halftime advantage. Gannon then led the entire second half until Alderson-Broaddus tied the game with 29 seconds left.

Goldcamp led the attack with his second consecutive double-double and 16th in two seasons at Gannon, producing 20 points and 10 rebounds. Stoczynski and Howard added 18 and 12 points, respectively.

Gannon shot 50 percent (28-56) from the field, including a 62.1 percent (18-29) clip in the first half. The Golden Knights shot 25 percent (4-16) from three-point range and 87.5 percent (7-8) from the free throw line.

Green led the A-B offensive unit with 16 points, finishing 4-for-4 from three-point range. Lee recorded 15 points and seven rebounds. Stan Hall chipped in 12 points.

Alderson-Broaddus shot 46.2 percent (24-52) from the floor, 42.9 percent (6-14) from behind the arc, and 84.6 percent (11-13) from the charity stripe.

Gannon improved to 29-3 with its 11th consecutive victory. Alderson-Broaddus' season came to an end at 27-6. The Golden Knights will face Kutztown Tuesday, March 17 in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Championship at the Hammermill Center. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
