Findlay sinks Lake Superior State
Oilers hit 52.3 percent from the field to pull away for easy win
FINDLAY, Ohio -- No. 10 Findlay came away with a 70-56 victory against Lake Superior State on Saturday in Croy Gymnasium. The victory pushed the Oilers to a 23-3 record on the year as they ended the regular season with a 16-3 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).
The Oilers got great production from their bench in the first half as sophomore forward Brad Piehl scored 11 points in the opening period to help Findlay claim a 33-29 lead at the break. They then took care of business in the second half to capture their 104th consecutive regular-season victory in Croy Gymnasium.
Junior guard Kyle Caiola led the team with 17 points while Piehl and sophomore forward Jack Smith added 15 points apiece.
Piehl also contributed six rebounds and two blocks to go along with his new career-high point total while Smith recorded a career-high six assists.
As a team, the Oilers shot 52.3 percent (23 of 44) from the floor and connected on 8 of 23 (34.8 percent) of their 3-point tries.
Micah Hudson and Derek Billing led the Lakers with 13 points apiece.
