Augustana (Ill.) downs Webster
Vikings' size too much for Gorloks in First Round win
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- Webster was often outsized this season, but had not faced a front line as imposing as Augustana’s pair of 6-foot-9 forwards, as the Vikings downed the Gorloks 76-51.
Webster, playing its first NCAA III tournament game since 2002, lost at Rock Island, Ill.
Facing a 45-25 deficit, the Gorloks kept pace with the Vikings in the second half, but couldn’t dig significantly into the imposing lead.
Drew Moore had 16 points and pulled down six rebounds for the Gorloks. Freshman Hollis Edwards came off the bench to score nine, shooting four of five from the field.
The Gorloks bid farewell to five seniors, three of them starters. Brad Cookson, Nick Jones, Robby Meeh, Drew Moore, and Scott Restoff played their final game in the blue and gold.
Webster finished the season 21-7.
