Tuskegee hires Dunn

TUSKEGEE, Ala. -- Tuskegee has hired former Penn State coach and New York Knicks assistant Jerry Dunn to lead the basketball program.

Dunn replaces former NBA player Leon Douglas. The Division II school announced his hiring Friday.

Dunn was Penn State's coach from 1995-2003 and had worked as an assistant at Michigan and West Virginia before going to the Knicks in 2012. He was Michigan's associate head coach from 2007-10.

He led the Nittany Lions to their first top-10 ranking and an NCAA tournament appearance in his first season. He was 117-121 overall. Dunn was on Mike Woodson's staff with the Knicks and wasn't retained when Phil Jackson was hired.

Douglas resigned in July and took the same position at Miles College.
