NCAA.com | February 27, 2015 Spagnolo to finish Appalachian State journey Share For Appalachian State's Tommy Spagnolo, the journey hasn't been simple. He began his college career at Radford, sitting out as a redshirt freshman his first year. Spagnolo appeared in a small role his sophomore year then transferred to Appalachian State, where he had to sit out another year due to the NCAA's transfer rules. As a redshirt senior, Spagnolo had the best year of his college career, averaging 8.5 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. He also hit 58.6 percent of his field goals, good for second-best in the Southern Conference. He was granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA entering this year.
