30-Year Anniversary of “One Shining Moment” to be Celebrated as Part of Turner Sports and CBS Sports’ Expanded National Championship Game Coverage

Iconic NCAA Tournament Anthem Performed by the Late Luther Vandross to Air on TBS

Three-Time Grammy Award Winner NE-YO to Voice Latest Rendition on TNT and truTV with Team-Specific NCAA Tournament Video Highlights

The NCAA, CBS Sports and Turner Sports will celebrate the 30-year anniversary of “One Shining Moment” as part of its expanded coverage of the 2016 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship on Monday, April 4. The celebrated version of the song performed by Luther Vandross will be featured on TBS, with a video montage of highlights from the NCAA Tournament airing once the national champion is crowned.

This year’s coverage of the National Championship will include traditional game coverage on TBS, with “Team Stream by Bleacher Report” or team-specific championship telecast airing on TNT and truTV for the first time.

In addition to the version of “One Shining Moment” airing on TBS, three-time Grammy Award winner NE-YO will lend his voice to a new rendition of the iconic song.  The latest installment will be part of the Team Stream coverage airing on TNT and truTV.  NE-YO’s performance of “One Shining Moment” will accompany team-centric highlights of the schools being featured in the Team Stream presentations, following their quest leading up to and during the title game.

“Along with our partners at CBS, we wanted to pay special tribute to the iconic ‘One Shining Moment’ anthem this year, as we celebrate its 30-year anniversary,” said Craig Barry, EVP and Chief Content Officer, Turner Sports.  “It also presented the perfect opportunity to re-record this legendary song for our innovative Team Stream coverage.  We’re thrilled to have NE-YO, with his impressive vocal talents, complement the long-standing tradition this year.”

Dan Gavitt, NCAA Vice President of Men’s Basketball Championships, added, “This iconic song continues to memorialize the incredible contributions of the teams and players of March Madness, while being timeless, and is looked forward to each year.”

NE-YO becomes the fifth artist to perform “One Shining Moment,” joining its composer David Barrett, Teddy Pendergrass, Jennifer Hudson and Luther Vandross.

In addition to this year’s “One Shining Moment” video package airing at the end of the National Championship game telecast, Turner Sports and CBS Sports will commemorate the history of the song with a feature televised as part of Monday’s pre-game show.

This year’s NCAA Tournament coverage, in partnership between Turner Sports and CBS Sports, will culminate with the NCAA Final Four National Semifinals on Saturday, April 2, and the National Championship on Monday, April 4.  All three games will be televised on TBS, the first time the National Championship has aired on cable television, along with Team Stream productions on TNT and truTV.
