Texas guard Andrew Jones was diagnosed with leukemia in January, much to the horror of the college basketball world. But Jones’ status is steadily improving, and on Wednesday, he posted a video of himself getting some shots up.

Take a look:

However limited, this is awesome. Texas has been honoring Jones with patches that read AJ1 — his initials and his jersey number — on its uniforms. The Longhorn community has rallied together to support one of its own.

Hopefully, Jones can win his battle with cancer. Even if this is bigger than basketball, the game clearly means a lot to him.

Joe Boozell has been a college basketball writer for NCAA.com since 2015. His work has also appeared in Bleacher Report, FOXSports.com and NBA.com. Joe’s claim to fame since joining NCAA.com: he’s predicted the correct national championship game twice… and picked the wrong winner both times. Growing up, Joe squared off against both Anthony Davis and Frank Kaminsky in the Chicagoland basketball scene. You can imagine how that went.
