DII men's basketball championship field announced

DII Men's Basketball | Selection Show

INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Committee announced today the field of 64 teams that will compete in the 2018 NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Championship.

Twenty-four conferences have been awarded automatic qualification.  The remaining 40 teams were selected at large by the committee.

Seven of the regional tournaments, consisting of eight teams each, will be conducted March 10, 11 and 13 at regional sites.  The West regional will be conducted March 9, 10 and 12. The eight regional champions will advance to the quarterfinals in conjunction with the 2018 NCAA Division II Men’s Elite Eight at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Northwest Missouri State defeated Fairmont State, 71-61, to win the 2017 NCAA Division II Men’s Elite Eight championship game in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Four regional sites selected to host second year of NCAA College Basketball Academies

Academy participants will play in scrimmages and go through drills being conducted by past and present coaches from across all three divisions of the NCAA as well as high school coaches. Coaches, as well as a commissioner for each site, will be determined later. All the prospective student-athletes and their parents or guardians will also be instructed on life skills designed to prepare them for the recruiting process, academic eligibility and life on campus.
