The NCAA announced on Thursday, March 12 that all winter and spring championships have been canceled, including the 2020 NIT, due to concerns about the coronavirus:
"Today, NCAA President Mark Emmert and the Board of Governors canceled the Division I men’s and women’s 2020 basketball tournaments, as well as all remaining winter and spring NCAA championships. This decision is based on the evolving COVID-19 public health threat, our ability to ensure the events do not contribute to spread of the pandemic, and the impracticality of hosting such events at any time during this academic year given ongoing decisions by other entities."
2020 NIT bracket — CANCELED
The 2020 NIT will have a 32-team bracket that concludes at Madison Square Garden in New York City for the semifinals and the championship. The tournament will start with the First Round on Tuesday, March 17 and Wednesday, March 18.
The NIT field will include automatic qualifiers in the form of regular season conference champions that don't make the NCAA tournament.
