Houston coach Joe Curl
Opening statement:
Were just really, really disappointed that we didnt bring our A game. I think we brought our A game, they just took it away from us. Give all the credit in the world to Boston College. Theyre one of the best coached teams weve seen all year. Their ability to block us out and to take our strength away, which was offensive rebounds put-backs, and at halftime, I believe they had us on the glass 11-2 as far as points getting put back in. We really struggled offensively and it seemed the rim got smaller and smaller and everything got tougher and tougher.
It felt like our team really got frustrated. They really werent quitting, they got frustrated, and that is what I was trying to do, to coach them through that time, but things dont always go the way you want them to. We were just going to hang in there and fight until someone drags us off the court and tells us the game is over. We felt we had a chance to win until probably the last six or seven minutes when it got a little out of hand. My hat is off to Boston College. I just really felt like we didnt play as well as were capable and they had a lot to do with that.

On the play of Clare Droesch:
Shes a great basketball player. We come down the court off the tip and she buries it and then she buries another one. We tried to get in her hip and tried to come off the screens and not get screened. She has a quick shot; shes a basketball quick player. What she may not have in total quickness, she makes up for with her brain and her quickness of her release. Her teammates have a lot to do with that, too. I cant say enough about them. Shes one of the finest basketball players weve had the opportunity to play against. Shes a very good player.

On the rebuilding process due to losing five seniors:
I hope that we turn into a LSU, Duke, or North Carolina. I hope we reload and dont have to rebuild. I know every once in a while you have to kind of rebuild, but Im hoping were kind of through that. This is our fourth tournament in five years and the kind of student-athletes that weve recruited and signed, I think can bring us back to here. I just want to represent our conference better than we did today. Im disappointed in that. As far as the game is concerned, Ive won some games and Ive been beaten before in close games; Ive been blown out of the gym. Anybody that has coached has been through that and to be self-centered and an egomaniac and say that its all about how bad I feel. I feel like Ive been blessed to be able to come here and to have the kids weve signed, I think were going to be reloading. I think well be a different basketball team again. Last year we were a slashing outside team, this year were an inside and out basketball team, and next year I think well be more guard oriented and really shoot the ball. Im excited about next year already and what happened today will motivate me to get out and work just a little bit harder here and get ourselves ready next year.

Junior forward/center Sancho Lyttle
On how she feels about the loss:
In the first ten minutes, we had a shot and after that, everything started going haywire both ways.

Senior guard Joann Overstreet
On how she feels about the loss:
I just feel like they played better than us tonight. They were the better team tonight.

On the difficulty to get Lyttle the ball inside:
To me, it wasnt difficult to get it inside. Our shots just werent falling and we werent moving the ball around.

Boston College Coach Cathy Inglese
Opening statement
I was very pleased with our performance this afternoon, especially on the defensive end. Houston is a team that can score a lot of points, and we held them down to about 21, 22 percent from the field, and I think that it was one of the keys of the game. In the first half, we did a decent job on the boards overall of only allowing them one opportunity. But overall, I think the defense was very good, and offensively, I was pleased with how we moved the ball, got some open shots, and that showed in going 50 percent from the field. So on both the offensive and defensive end I was very pleased.

What are your thoughts about Tuesdays game versus Duke?
Houston was a solid team, and I try not to look ahead. But definitely, weve done our homework on Duke, our prep work is done so now we just have to get caught up. Obviously theyre a good team, and we hope that we can do some of the same things as far as our movement on offense is concerned, taking great shots and getting our defense down. Obviously, they are a much different team than Houston.

Senior Guard Clare Droesch
On her shooting to open the game
I was wide open, and that was the only reason I shot the ball, other than that I would have pulled the ball back out. It wasnt really anyone around me, and I hit the first one, so I figured Id shoot until I missed.

On playing Duke on Tuesday
Were just excited about going to the second round in the NCAA Tournament. Were just excited to play.

Junior Forward Brooke Queenan
On her job defensively versus Houstons Sancho Lyttle
I think that the job we did on defense was a team effort, and it was one of our goals. I think we all just did a great job in doubling down and scrambling, so basically it was the entire team.
