January 17, 2009-Cassondra Boston's 24 points and Ida Edwards seventh double-double of the year offset 31 points from Janice Bright as #9 Emporia State defeated #7 Washburn 85-78 in White Auditorium on Saturday night.
The Lady Hornets trailed 18-14 with 8:58 left in the first half before going on a 13-0 run to take the lead for good. ESU held WU to one field goal over the final 9:33 of the half to take a 36-26 lead into the locker room.

ESU's lead would grow to 16 at 49-33 with 15:44 left in the game. WU would cut the lead to five at 81-76 but Boston and Sophia Lenard ombined to hit nine of ten free throws in the final 1:01 to secure the win.

Edwards ended with 14 points and 12 rebounds for her seventh double-double of the season. Allie Renberg added ten points off the bench for ESU. Dayna Rodriguez had 15 points and Stanecia Graham added 12 for Washburn.
