No. 19 Notre Dame Drops No. 25 DePaul In Tight One, 62-59
Feb. 8, 2009
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) -Becca Bruszewski hit a 12-foot baseline jumper with 50 seconds left to give No. 19 Notre Dame the lead, and the Irish made four of six free throws down the stretch to beat No. 25 DePaul 62-59 Sunday.
Bruszewski finished with 14 points and a career-high 12 rebounds for her first career double-double, and Ashley Barlow matched her season-high with 19 points to lead the Irish (17-5, 6-4 Big East).
Natasha Williams led DePaul (18-6, 6-4) with 20 points and 10 rebounds as the Blue Demons' five-game winning streak came to an end. China Threatt, who had 11 points, had a chance to tie the game at the buzzer but her 3-pointer bounced high off the back of the rim and fell to the floor.
The Irish easily beat DePaul 86-62 on Jan. 6, but the game Sunday was close throughout after the Irish briefly opened a 12-point lead in the first half.
