North Dakota State sophomore Hannah Linz was diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma on April 8, 2010, but is back on the court for the Bison this season. Hodgkins lymphoma is a cancer of the lymphatic system, which is part of the immune system. Linz went through two chemotherapy treatments per month over a six month period starting April 9 at Fargo’s Meritcare Roger Maris Cancer Center. Linz, a 5-foot-11 guard from Watkins, Minn., scored a career-high 17 points in the 76-69 loss at Northern Arizona (Nov. 19) and matched a career-high with four 3-pointers in that contest. She has hit four 3-pointers in a game three times this season, most recently at Duquesne on Dec. 12. Linz has played in all 10 of NDSU’s games, starting four and averaging 22.7 minutes per game. She handed out a career-high 11 assists against Mayville State Dec. 7.

• When Stanford head coach Tara VanDerveer became the sixth women’s coach to reach the 800 win plateau, two of VanDerveer’s former players, Jennifer Azzi and Katy Steding, were on the opposing bench and presented their college coach with flowers and the game ball at midcourt after the game.
