Pace takes down No. 4 Bentley
Setter’s Johnson game’s leading scorer with 26 points
PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- Carol Johnson led Pace with a career-high 26 points to upset No. 4 Bentley, 79-68. The Setters improved to 10-3 overall and 7-2 in the NE-10 conference while the Falcons dropped to 12-2 overall and 8-1 in conference play.
Both teams came out strong in the first with the Falcons holding a slight lead on the Setters for a majority of the first half but couldn’t go up by any more than six points.
The Setters were able to go on a run late in the half and took their largest lead to that point. The Setters went into halftime up on the Falcons, 39-35.
Pace went on a run to start the second half to go up 10 points in the first five minutes. Pace went up by as many as 15 points in the second half.
The Falcons were sent to the line seven times throughout the second half but were only able to get within seven points of the Setters.
Lauren Battista lead the Falcons with 24 points, five rebounds and two assists while Jacqui Brugliera was not far behind with 23 points, eight rebounds and two assists.
Johnson had 26 points, four assists and five rebounds on the day for the Setters. Kerri White went 4-4 from 3-point range and ended with 12 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals. Allison Clearly finished with 16 points while Brittany Shields contributed 13 points, four assists and nine rebounds.
