Lewis & Clark tops Concordia (Texas)
Williams pours in career-high 33 points to lead Pioneers’ charge
NEWBERG, Ore. -- Ninth-ranked Lewis & Clark picked up the first NCAA Division III NCAA Tournament win in program history on Friday night, taking down Concordia (Texas) 83-65 in the first round.
Junior Kristina Williams led the way for the Pioneers with a career-high 33 points, 18 of which she scored in the first half of action. Sara Villanueva finished the game with 18 points, finishing 5-of-7 from the floor, while being just as productive from the charity stripe. Senior Megan Spence was the strongest player off the boards, collecting a game-high nine rebounds.
Lashanda Luckey scored 18 points and had eight rebounds to lead the Tornados, and Christen McLee finished with 16 points. The Pioneers improved to 24-3 on the season with the victory while the Tornados ended their campaign with a 23-4 mark.
